Favorite Christmas Season Tradition? How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Favorite Christmas Season Tradition?

Everyone likes Christmas traditions! What’s your favorite, or if you can’t pick just one, you can say them all, I don’t mind! Haha!

Mine: I like the whole entire season! The ticker tape, the family, the like! I always reckon about what Christmas is all about, and it makes me so pleased, cozy and warm inside. My favorite traditions are decorating, the tree especially, baking cookies with my Grandma, opening our one gift on Christmas Eve, which is always pajamas, and snuggling up on the couch next to our fireplace in our new jammies on Christmas Eve (after church) , just my mom, dad, brothers, and I (and our pets) eating Christmas cookies, drinking hot cocoa with candy canes, watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and then a Christmas tale, too remember what it is all really about. Go too bed, wake up super early, Grandma comes over, we eat a giant breakfast and open gifts. Then its off too a party on my dads side, then at night a party at my moms side, opening gifts at each one. I like it!

BQ: Have you ever had a white Christmas? Last year, we had 15 inches of snow fall on Christmas Eve and Christmas! It was the greatest :)

Best answers:

Stockings. Always the best part of my Christmases as a kid. Mom packed them the night before with all sorts of goodies. Toys and candy as a kid and gift certificates, perfume, cheap jewelry, and mini booze bottles when we got older.
LOL THAT WAS LONG
MY FAVORITE WAS MAKING TAMALES WITH ALL MY SISTERS AND MOM
&& NOPE NEVER HAVE IT DOESNT SNOW OUT HERE IN LA
I’m pretty much obsessed with Christmas. I usually start getting excited about it in July, during the QVC Christmas in July sale! It’s too hard to name just one favorite tradition, so I hope you don’t mind if I just name them all!!!

I like to start it out by watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thanksgiving. That’s when I know the season has officially begun. I also like watching the ABC Family channel’s 25 Days of Christmas countdown. On the 23rd of December my family and I go to my grandmother’s (Mom’s side) house and we have a huge Christmas dinner and open gifts and spend time together. On Christmas Even we pretty much take it simple and just watch Christmas movies, drink hot chocolate, and stuff our faces! The next morning (Christmas morning) my parents, brother, and myself all open our gifts from each other. Our family has a tradition called the Santa Bowl, which is a football game we play every Christmas Day-my extended family is pretty huge so we have enough people to make 2 teams. After the Santa Bowl, we rest up and shower and go to my grandad’s (Dad’s side) and spend time together and eat another Christmas dinner. I’m from Alabama, so it never snows here, except on rare occasions, and it’s never during Christmas, so unfortunately, I have never been able to experience a white Christmas. I like Christmas so much!!!!

I like to decorate the house and the tree, bake cookies, listen to Christmas music and watch Christmas movies/tv shows, look at other peoples ticker tape, spend time with family, and eat Christmas dinner.

BQ: I’ve had many white Christmas’, but not last year. Last year it rained :(

Merry Christmas to everyone. :) Follow me on twitter! twitter.com New Youtube: www.youtube.com/novapandaa

  1. Ice Leaper says:

My mom started a tradition when I was a small girl that is really special to me. Every Christmas Eve, she gave my sister and I an ornament, which represents something vital to us in whatever year it was. She did it so that when we had our own homes, we’d be able to have special ornaments and memories, rather than having to go to the store, and buy all new. It’s a tradition both my sister and I have shared with our new families, and that we hope our kids will share with theirs. Plus, we always make cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. We always have snow. New York last year was unreal!

Savannah, sounds like you and I do the exact same things to get ready for the holidays. Right down to QVC!

  2. Kavya says:

    Mastana

  3. mizzsweetness16 says:

best christmas tradition was probably spending time with the people i like most especially my boyfriend of 3 years and all the excellent food, presents are always nice but its the quality family time that means the most!!

  4. Forever Summer says:

Black Friday. Every year my family and I wake up at 5 AM and don’t get back till like 9 PM. Its really fun!!!!

BQ: Well last year it snowed ALOT wear i live and it snowed like 26 inches like a week before christmas and the snow was still on the ground on christmas day so i guess that counts as a white christmas!

  5. Kiwi is my bird-o says:

My favorite Christmas tradition has to be the Advent calendar. When I was small, my parents had a gorgeous handmade one from my grandpa. I always loved getting small gifts every day before Christmas, and it was always my favorite ticker tape because it looked like the perfect small Christmas house. Me and my husband couldn’t find quite as nice of one as my parents have, but we still have a pretty nice wood one. We go out on November 29th after work to the mall and buy small gifts to fill up the slots (or if their too huge, we write small notes corresponding to the gift). We divvy up the days so we each get to open a door and get a gift every other day. Even if it’s just a chocolate or small ornament, it is always so fun, and it just makes it feel like Christmas.

Other than that, we decorate thanksgiving day after we’ve had dinner, go on drives around the rich neighborhoods where the houses are decorated really nicely at sometime during the season, bake together, and on Christmas eve, we each open one gift, and watch A Christmas Tale before going to bed. Then on Christmas morning, we wake up early, go to my parents house and open gifts, then go out to breakfast with them and go look at the gingerbread village at a local resort. Then we go over to his moms house and open gifts with his family and eat dinner. It’s always such a nice season!

  6. Lady Snowblossom says:

Watching How the Grinch stole Christmas and reading the autobiography of Santa Claus by Peter Gunn.

  7. Ann S. says:

Our “Christmas” starts with the Macy’s Parade on TV Thanksgiving day. We have hot chocolate and sweet snacks while we watch. Later in the day we have Thanksgiving dinner. The next day we place up the tree and don’t take it down until after New Years.

We had a white Christmas two or three years ago. Not much, but was enough to make it a perfect Christmas.

  8. uga_fan49 says:

I always buy a new decoration for inside and one for outside. I found a really cool site with lots of stuff. I might have to get more than one for outside this year!

  9. The FAME says:

I like everything about Christmas! But a tradition that I have done for years, is making a gingerbread house. Everyone in my family despises gingerbread, but they are just so fun to make! And then I always watch The Polar Express during the holidays, but I do that all year around anyway! It’s my favorite movie ever. :)

BQ: I don’t remember what year it was, but we once had around 15 inches of snow too. :)

  10. Alan says:

Simple, putting the star on the tree.

And yes, we had like the largest white Christmas, last year I had ever seen.

  11. forallreals says:

Aww your Christmas sounds wonderful!! :) First off, YES every Christmas of mine has been white- nearly too white!! Haha, I live in Pennsylvania so we get a LOT of snow all winter long.

As far as traditions go, my mom and I always pick up new pj’s for Christmas Eve. Yes, I’m 16 and I still delight in getting my Christmas themed comfy pj’s every year!! And my mom and I bake cookies about a week before Christmas each year. We’ll make sugar cookies in Christmas shapes every year and decorate them with frosting and sprinkles, as well as making peanut butter meltaways. And also we make a “suprise” cookie each year. It’s usually a recipe we find in a Christmas cooking magazine :) Also, on Christmas Eve my entire family (plus my grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousin) all go to church together. I like church on Christmas Eve because the mood is so bright and I always like singing Christmas songs in church! Then after church we all go to my grandma’s house and eat a HUGE pasta dinner with many different types of pasta and spaghetti sauce, as well as meatballs, pork, sausage, and homemade rolls. Then afterwards we all eat the Christmas cookies that my mom and I baked. Then we open presents from each other and go to my grandma’s sisters house (my aunt’s house) to visit. We then open MORE presents from my aunt’s family. After that my mom, dad, and I go home and open the presents we bought for each other. Haha, and my dog gets to open his presents too!! Oh, I LOVE Christmas. I can’t wait till we place up the tree! We place it up each year on Thanksgiving night!

  12. мɑɴɗʏﻬ says:

I like EVERYTHING about Christmas. A tradition with my family is that my mom’s parents come over early Christmas morning with fresh cinnamon buns. When we’re eating them at the table, we get to open our stockings, but we have to wait until breakfast is done to open our gifts! Also one of my favorite drinks is non-alcoholic eggnog, so when the holiday season comes around I can look forward to that again! (:
I live in PA, and last year I had what you would call a semi-white Christmas, a tiny bit of snow scattered across the lawn. But in February we had the largest snow-storm imaginable!

  13. Jeremy says:

My family always got together with my mom’s relatives at her parents’ house. Bot of my grandparents are deceased now, so the last few years have been different. But I still treasure those Christmases with them all.

  14. Comments.... says:

  15. thecelticwolf2001 says:

I like the whole season as well…For me after my grandmother died I turned to the more spiritual side of Christmas..I go to all the Advent/Christmas concerts, devotions and services..I like how the churches decorate, it really stirs up the spirit. And of course midnight mass and afterwards a cup of hot tea!

Mulled wine, warm sweaters, hanging out with loved ones, caroling, fireplaces, exchanging gifts. I like it.
