All of the attempts by the media to make stories out of the budget battles going on in Washington D.C. will not change the bottom line of how it will end up, no matter how many ways they try to create a story. Namely, the taxpayers will get stuck with more debt and more taxes again.

After all of the political punches are thrown, President Obama will get some of the unnecessary spending and tax increases he wants, the Democrats will get some of the wasteful spending and tax increases they want, the Republicans will get some of the spending cuts they want, and once again the overall deficit will continue to add to the national debt using the taxpayers’ credit card.
That’s not leadership.

Unlike what Obama has proposed, Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin is actually leading boldly to help get Wisconsin’s budget balanced. Governor Walker has proposed that public sector workers, mostly unionized, pay a portion of their health insurance, and a modest portion of their retirement contributions.

That sparked an uproar with demonstrations at the state capital by the unions last week, because their position is to give in on nothing even though the state is broke. The problem has been ignored for years and Gov. Walker has proposed a bold solution as a start to fixing the problem. That’s leadership.

My North Star National colleague Dan Calabrese last week cited Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder as doing the same thing. Leading! Tell people the whole truth, and propose and explain a real solution instead of another “I want to be re-elected” band-aid.

President Obama’s proposed budget does not follow the example of Governors Walker and Snyder. The president’s proposal just continues to kick the can down the road without a serious solution.

His claim of a $ 1.1 trillion deficit reduction over 10 years is certainly not a serious solution. That so-called reduction is about a 1 percent reduction per year, which will be eaten up by inaccuracies in the projections and rounding errors. When you compare the 1 percent per year to the annual deficits of over 70 percent per year for the last two years, that’s not a solution and that’s not leadership.

Being in a leadership position without leading is called position-ship.

Lately I’ve been noticing child actors and actresses (<15) have been a little less "kid" and a little more "madonna" if not "britney" I mean-- designer labels, mature modeling contracts, Platinum records, and working in hollywood 24/7(that means homeschooling) all before you can DRIVE?

I give a tip of my hat to all those kids that HAVE talent, but a wag of my finger to all those kids that are only into it because of their superstar parents or a typical pretty face. Side glance to Willow Smith and Miley Cyrus. I'm sick and tierd of seeing tweens act like they are celebrity royalty because they can smile and speak a few lines in front of a camera. The thing I like about Elle is shes one of the few stars that knows shes JUST LIKE every other 13 year old teenager in america! I have been depressed for 7 years, 8 once it goes to nov 2011. It doesnt help that i am gay. I hate how ugly i am, and how im becoming fat. I wish i could just starve myself, but food is sometimes the only thing that can make me happy alot of the times. I am not obese, but my parents bring me down alot because of how much of a loser i am. Additionally, i am terrified of driving, because my driving teacher ruined it for me, and i was the worst in that class. My parents constantly berate me for not being able to drive, but i am so afraid of it. Also I am very close to failing one of my classes, and if i do, i will seriously consider suicide, because i do want want to ******* repeat any more highschool, and have the shame of my parents wash over me.

Right now, i am kinda in a weird haze. I started Watching “United States of Tara” and i have become fixated with the character Marshall. He is cute, but not a flamboyant, queeny gay person. It gives me hope to see an average/nerdy gay person finding love. And i have become so attached to this character, that i literally have been watching the show all day for the past two days. I wish i could have someone who could love me, but i feel like i am incompatible with anyone, and will live forever alone. Does anyone know a movie or a story about a gay teen or person who is not flamboyant? I need some hope..

11 year old male child has lived with Grandma (who was very close friend) and Dad all his life. Dad was an alcoholic and had legal custody, both of them died in August 2011. The child has been living with us since May of 2011 due to their health and both signed notarized hand written statements stating they wanted us to have custody. Birth mother & Dad where divorced, dad was given custody and mother was given visitation rights and ordered to pay child support which she hasn’t paid and owes over $ 10,000. Birth mother has not even seen or talked to child in 7 years and very little before that. Once mom found out that dad died and child may get social security check she filed for full custody and is acting like she is trying out for mother of the year. She has stated over the phone to my wife that if she can have the SS check we can keep the child so we are positive of what it is she is after. She doesn’t work, collects disability, and lives in low income housing. When she did work she was a stripper. She is 48 years old. My wife and I really love this child and he is my 12 yo sons best friend and consider themselves brothers. We have known him since he was 4 and can give him the love, care, and family life that he needs. He really love’s living with us and is well adjusted here. He already calls my wife Mom. The only relative he has is his aunt and she can’t take him but wants us to. I have a good job and we are a very happy and loving family. It would be a shame to see the mother win this case and have this boy’s life ruined. Anybody been through a similar situation or someone that can offer us advice? We have a lawyer and go to court Oct 4th 2011. Any help would be appreciated.

Mr. Elevatorgate is reported to be in a critical care unit. Apparently the shame from hitting on a woman in an elevator has caused him to commit suicide. Richard Dawkins has taken the time to chime in by saying that her feelings didn’t matter since other women have bigger problems like spontaneously evaporating clitorises or something in Saudi Arabia. Many atheists are boycotting Richard Dawkins’ over his response by saying, “She was just giving dating advice, not feminism advice. How dare you draw attention to real feminist issues!”
While this issue has managed to bring attention to the voices of female atheists, many find their voices naggy, absurd, and many men are tired of being called misogynists for disagreeing with feminists, and tired of their criticisms of some feminists being dismissed simply because they have a penis, especially when it is a very small penis and might as well be a clitoris.
Jesus Christ was interviewed for his reaction to elevatorgate, skepchick, and Rebecca Watson and is reported to have said, “ONLY in the atheist community could something so marginal as a [b*llshit] accusation that getting hit on in an elevator is a feminist crisis, be taken seriously as a feminist crisis.” Jesus Christ was asked if his views have been broadened by the blogosphere reaction and responded that he has never been more convinced that feminism is a sexist movement. Dark-horse GOP presidential candidate Buddy Roemer has been the only contender to embrace the Occupy Wall Street protests in Lower Manhattan and other urban centers. On Tuesday, he plans to join the protests in New York, according a post on his Twitter account Sunday night.

“I am concerned and outraged, as are many, at Wall Street greed. I will be joining Occupy Wall Street NYC Tuesday to see it firsthand,” he wrote.

In some ways, Mr. Roemer makes sense as the Occupy candidate. His campaign accepts only donations of $ 100 or less, an effort to limit the influence of special interests, the candidate says. Mr. Roemer served four terms as a Democratic congressman from Louisiana, switching to the GOP during his single term as the state’s governor.

If nothing else, showing up in New York could be a rare chance for Mr. Roemer to grab some media attention. Republican leaders have largely denounced the movement, which includes people opposed to big business, war, the American political system and several other causes. Mitt Romney has called it “class warfare.” Rick Perry’s campaign said “the protests don’t make sense or help create jobs.” When asked about Occupy Wall Street last week, former pizza company executive Herman Cain said, “If you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself.”

Rep. Ron Paul (R., Texas) and former Sen. Rick Santorum (R., Pa.) have said they empathize with the protesters’ frustration, but they don’t agree with all of their goals.

(Reuters) – President Barack Obama believes harsh immigration stances of Republicans will drive Latino votes toward him in next year’s election.

Speaking with Hispanic reporters at the White House on Wednesday, Democrat Obama said simply replaying the remarks about immigration made by the Republican presidential candidates would help him secure the backing of Latino voters.

“We may just run clips of the Republican debates verbatim,” he told the reporters, according to a report from Spanish language broadcaster Univision.

“We won’t even comment on them, we’ll just run those in a loop on Univision and Telemundo, and people can make up their own minds,” he said. Telemundo is another popular Spanish language broadcaster.

Obama’s 2008 White House victory was helped by heavy Latino support, but some in the Hispanic community have since become disillusioned over the president’s failure to deliver on campaign promises on immigration reform.

However, hard-line positions taken by Republicans on illegal immigration and border control may help Obama win them back in vital swing states with high Hispanic populations like Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico that he hopes to hold in 2012.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann says she would build a fence on the border and enforce English as the official language of the U.S. government. Mitt Romney and Herman Cain, currently front-runners to win the Republican nomination to face Obama next year, also favor building a fence.

Texas Governor Rick Perry does not favor a fence, but has talked instead about using predator drones to police the 1,300 mile border.

“That’s not to say the Latino community is going to think my administration is perfect. But I think they know where my heart is and they know the kind of America that I want to see for all of our children,” Obama told the reporters.

1) Safety Car – Yes I know it could be tedious being behind the car for a few laps but lets stick with realism here. Safety cars are a major factor in F1 so I hope codeys include that in 2011

2) Red Flag – Bad accidents lead to red flags, lets have the race actually stopped if this happens

3) Actual Track Marshals removing retired car – Instead of having them disappear, how about we have them removed with the crane and track marshals

4) Split screen – Me and my mother are big F1 fans, shame 2010 didn’t have spiltscreen, I’d love to laugh in her face

5) Classic Tracks – Donington, Old Hockenheim, Fuji, Jerez, all the old circuits should be added

6) Drivers changing teams in Career mode – Again, if codeys want realism, then drivers should be able to switch teams in career mode so we don’t have like Michael Schumacher in Mercedes for 7 years

7) More Answers/Questions in Interviews and making you own answers up -

A mother from Summerville is facing criminal charges in North Carolina after police say her child suffered second and third degree burns, possibly from chemicals used to make meth.

According to the Fayetteville Observer, 23 year old Ashley Milligan is charged with child abuse, manufacturing methamphetamine and obstruction of justice.

The Hoke county sheriff says Milligan’s 4-month-old son was found during the meth lab raid last week.

Based on the child’s injuries police say the baby had suffered for a while.

Six people, including the baby’s grandmother, were arrested at the home and now face charges.

With the intention of becoming a better person in a better Egypt, more responsible parent within a more happy family, stronger fair person, and more productive active citizen, I resolve to do the following:
(choose one)

– Confront constantly my fears, inhibitions, and insecurities instead of being controlled by them and try to prove my ability and improve performance.

– Focus on being the best father/mother as much as I can, not only but also be my children’s best friend

– Not be so eager to avoid conflict that I let the postpone problems, but confront and find solutions.
– Remember that, while there is never enough time to do everything, the best place to spend it is with family and friends i.e. it is not to get it all or leave it all , I should do my best every second.

– Decide how I feel about issues based on what’s best for my country, and not just my city, neighborhood, or group..Egypt to be in Heart and mind i.e. loyalty is a priority.

– Give people I criticize the benefit of the doubt, and not make assumptions about what motivates them and not to overgereallize

– Look for common ground and middle-of-the-road solutions to difficult problems, using workaround is not a shame it is an answer to unsovled question.

– Think through issues from a more complete, 360-degree perspective, examining them from all sides before making up my mind i.e. thinking outside the box.

– Challenge those on the far right and the far left to approach issues with honesty, nuance, and common sense..i.e. conscious will be the jude accordingly.

– Continue to try to give a voice to the silent and defend the little guy against the excesses of the loud and powerful..my sould at my hand whenever there is a difficult situation I am up to it.

As for Egyptians in general, we should dedicate ourselves to doing the following:

– Complain less, act more

– Remember that supposed elected officials who serve will not do anything and we should improve our society ourselves.
– Think harder, judge less, read more, think again, and keep an open mind, especially when it comes to those things about which we’re most unsure..sterotype and pre judgement should be avoided.

– Worry less about how others should behave, and concentrate on what we have power over: our own behavior…achieve justice is our mission within our ability and within law and customs.

– Steer clear of the extremes on the far right and the far left, and learn to see the value in more moderate views that come from the middle..we should weigh between the cost and value and examine the value before pay the cost.

– Take responsibility for our actions, failings, decisions, and mistakes and don’t look for others to blame,positivity will lead to the sucess.

– Resist the temptation to play the victim and give others more power than they deserve…as decision maker and actions takers we could change a lot.

– Travel more and, when we get where we’re going, we will find new ideas and solutions.
– Don’t be so eager to be heard that we forget to listen to others, and try to interact with others and get the best to serve Egypt.
