The PS3 will have the longest shelf life of the 3 consoles, so I would stop worrying about a PS4 until Nintendo and Microsoft release their next generation consoles. Of course the price will be expensive when it comes out. That holds right for any kind of premium electronic device, like the iPad & iPod devices. Even more reason why waiting for the PS4 is a silly option for you. Cost probably played a role in why you waited so long to get a PS3 and the prices for PS3 games & accessories are terrible enough as it is.

The PS3 in groundbreaking new condition is sold at the same price in all stores, so it really does not matter where you buy. You will see retailers offer free gift cards & games & things of that nature instead since they cannot modify the price.

Tax will generally be the same. It depends on where you get it, because local taxes are sometimes included. Shipping depends on the service you choose upon buy as well as where you buy. Obviously, the closer to home you buy, the cheaper the shipping.

It shouldn’t be a problem. They’ve got at least 3/4 a year to figure out who will cover your position while you’re gone. What you need to do is go into the Wire from a computer in Personnel or elsewhere when you’re clocked in. At the top of the page, click on Me @ Walmart (or something similar) and in Tools and Reports you’ll see a link for ETA. Using ETA you can request time off. If you’re part time, you’ll want to select “Unpaid time off” and choose the reason and dates you’ll need. Once you’ve done that, speak to your department’s assistant manager (question your supervisor or sponsor if you’re unsure who that is). Clarify why you need the time off and how grateful you’ll be once it’s approved. I’m sure they’ll be willing to work with you.

The dates you’ll be requesting off are far enough ahead of time (over a month away) and not during the “blackout dates” (anything from October – January), which means unless it’s in the middle of your store’s dreaded inventory time there shouldn’t be any reason why they would decline your request. If the manager you spoke with seemed like they didn’t want to work with you, it’s possible that they’re surprised that you would plot so far in advance.

Only a salaried member of management (assistant manager, co-manager, shift manager, store manager–but not department managers, CSM/CSS, ZMS) can approve or deny your request. Since you didn’t say how long ago you previously worked for Walmart, I don’t know if they may have changed the approval procedures. You may have inadvertently questioned a manager who doesn’t have the ability to approve your time off.

When you go into the computer system to place in your RTO (request for time off) you’ll need to know the exact dates, but there’s no reason why you should not go ahead and start talking to management. Assistant managers change departments every 6 months, so just because someone seems unwilling to work with you doesn’t mean they’ll be around too long after the new year. You can also go above their head and speak with the shift/co-manager or even your store manager. Your request is far enough in advance that I’m sure you’ll not run into too many road blocks.
