What’s YOUR favorite Christmas movies/shows/music?

Every year is pretty much the same for me, except for a few additions. I never subtract anything. My routine keeps getting larger. It’s just what i like about Christmastime. Since the 70′s, there’s several Christmas albums i listen to. I listen to Bobby Helms, “Jingle Bell Rock” Christmas album. I’ve had the 33rpm version in the 70′s. In the late 80′s/early 90′s i found the casette. Then, in the past few years, i converted the casette to CD with my pc, so that album will always be part of my collection. It has fantastic sentimental value, as It was my late mom’s favorite Christmas album. She loved it better than the one Elvis place out! I’ve found some other fantastic Christmas albums since then, like Alabama’s Christmas album, John Tesh’s Christmas album, and Manheim Steamroller’s. Garth Brooks’ “Beyond the Season” is another favorite of mom’s and mine. Pavarotti’s “Ave Maria” was my dad’s favorite Christmas song/version. Mom’s favorite Christmas song was “We Three Kings (of Orient Are)”

As far as Christmas shows, of course it’s the favorites on many people’s list. “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “Frosty the Snowman”, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, and my favorite i’ve loved since i was a kid, “Santa and the Three Bears”. I’ve place some of these on a DVD so they’re well preserved.

As far as movies, “Scrooge”, the 1970′s version is a fantastic one. The 1984 version with George C. Scott is another fantastic version of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”. There’s also “The Santa Clause” movies with Tim Allen, Jim Carrey’s “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” is also another favorite. “Elf” with Will Ferrell is another fantastic one.

Of course, the best Christmas movie is, by far, “It’s a Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stewart. I am wondering if they will ever remake that movie to fit modern times, or if they will just keep it as it is, a classic.

I also watch tv specials like variety shows. Back in the 70′s and 80′s, I used to watch Perry Como’s Christmas specials with my dad. They were some fantastic ones he had on tv, shot from all over the world. My dad loved Christmastime more than any other time of the year, and i feel the same.

It’s Christmas Eve down in Whoville, and everyone’s decorating for the huge day tomorrow. Everyone, that is, but the Grinch (Boris Karloff), who lives on Mt. Crumpit (just north of Whoville) with a sour attitude. He absolutely despises everything about Christmas because of the noise surrounding the entire town on Christmas Day. The Grinch tries to come up with a plot of “keeping Christmas from coming”. Just then, he notices his dog, Max, covered in snow in a Santa Claus-like way. The Grinch then gets the notion of diguising himself as Santa and stealing all of the Whos’ presents, believing that that is enough to stop the holiday from coming. First, he cuts out a coat and a hat and sews some fluff onto them. Next, he takes a reindeer horn and ties it to Max. Finally, the Grinch brings out a huge stack of bags, loads it onto his ramshackle sleigh, and starts down on his journey to Whoville in a very comical way. Down in Whoville, the Grinch starts to steal everything in the first house. Cindy Lou Who (June Foray) wakes up and questions him why he’s taking the Christmas tree. The Grinch lies and tells her that something is incorrect with this tree and he’ll fix it up. After tucking Cindy Lou back in bed, the Grinch stuffs up the tree, takes the log for their fire, and goes up “the chimney himself, the ancient liar.” He does the same thing for every house afterwards. Loaded with everything the Whos owned, the Grinch and Max takes up the loot to Mt. Crumpit. Feeling joyous at the moment, the

Every who down in Who-ville likes Christmas a lot, but the Grinch who lived just north of Who-ville did NOT! So the cuddly as a cactus Grinch (with termites in his smile and garlic in his soul) tries to wipe out Christmas for the cheerful Who-villains, only to discover: maybe Christmas, he thought doesn't come from as store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more! Magnificently narrated by Boris Karloff and animated by cartoon legend Chuck Jones, it's an award-winning Who-roast-beast-fe

Wait, I really just remembered I like that song from Die Hard… I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s the one that goes
    ‘The weather outside is frightful
but the fire is so delightful
and since we’ve no place to go
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow’

A lot of people don’t reckon it is a Christmas movie but I reckon it is, and my favourite has to be Gremlins.

Check out this piece about it being the best Christmas film ever (if you want):
